My 1st Covid19 Vaccination

The humanity battle with the Covid19 virus has been intensified. The Delta variants posed far greater treats. It is not enough to wear a face mask when going outside, WHO has recommended wearing double face masks when going to public places. 

The key in the war is herd vaccination. Malaysian are betting to achieve herd vaccination level at 80% by the end of the year 2021. Currently, we're having the fastest rate of vaccination in the world. Mega PPVs had been set up throughout the country to ramp up the vaccination rate.

So what can we expect when going through the vaccination at the PPV?

The first step is to have the vaccination appointment date set up in mySejahtera; which is both a tiring and controversial issue to tackle. Most had waited for months since early 2021 to get a date. I consider myself and Dahlia very lucky as we're successfully got ourselves in the Astra Zenica (AZ) program. 

Dahlia got her vaccination date earlier than I. Her's was on 14th July while mine was on 27th July. We're both having our vaccination at the Persada Johor.

The fast procedures in the PPV are one of the strengths of the organizers. The whole process going in the PPV up until you're walking out will be approximately 30 minutes. It'll sure be no time for leisure photo snap.

The 1st station will be filling in the consent forms and the background health check forms. It will be smart to bring your own pen (even though they also have pens).

Lepas Pfizer = Talks English

Lepas Sinovac = Jiǎng pǔtōnghuà

Lepas Sputnik = govorit po-russki

The 2nd station will be a health assessment by medical personnel. You can ask any questions about the vaccination effect at this station.

The 3rd station will be vaccination booths. Be mindful to check the syringe before and after your vaccination. The personnel in charge are very helpful to disperse your doubt regarding the empty syringe issues.

The 4th station will be the waiting hall. You'll need to wait between 15 to 30 minutes in the case of vaccination allergy effects. There is also the case of vasovagal attack in younger persons; you may faint after the vaccination.

The 5th is the final station. A copy of your consent form will be given to you. The next steps in mySejahtera that are required to be done in the next 24 to 48 hours are explained by the personnel.

Then it'll be the photo booths at the end of the hallway that is surely the main attraction of the PPV.

What can you expect to happen to your body in the next 48 hours after the vaccination?

You can expect a slight fever. Dahlia had it worse than me. She shivered for 2 days after the vaccination. I had a slight fever on the 1st day. The fever should subside after 48 hours. 

It'll be smart to stock Paracetamol (not Ibuprofen) before the vaccination. Take the pills after the vaccination, NOT before. I took the pills up until the breakfast of the 2nd day after the vaccination.

The spot that you had the syringe stick on will be sore for several days. Mine sored for 5 days. The arm which had the shot will be lame for several days. Usually, you'll use your less dominant side as the shot's side.

As the war against Covid19 hasn't been won yet, there is 2 advice that I urged everyone to do:

1) Go for your vaccination shot as soon as you received the appointment date.

2) Be extra vigilant at the  PPV. You still need to do social distancing to prevent any close contact at the center.
