Brooks Pure Connect Review
Brooks is not a brand that everyone knows about. The simple fact is that because their product only focusing on running shoes. It is comparatively a small company compared to Nike, Adidas and such. But because its product only focusing on running shoes, their brand is well sought among runners. For me, I think I'm quite lucky to get my hands on a set of Brooks Pure Connect recently from a discounted price.
Brooks Pure Connect is one of shoe in its Pure Project series. Pure Connect is a minimalist neutral assisted shoe that give 'Feeling' instead of 'Float' to its user. Having my first proper running gear, I can't wait to try me red Brooks for my runs in the evening.
1) My first impression after getting into the shoes is that the size is tight fit for my feet. Since it is a minimalist shoes, my feet doesn't have any movement in the shoes.
2) My second feeling is during I reached the 1st km. For a good 'springy' feeling during running, your feet must run with a good arch shape.
With my previous Reebok shoes, I had to run with the arch shape in mind. But with Brooks, the shoes does it for me. I don't have to think about it at all. My run feel instantaneously springy. On the side effect, my feet need to adapt to the arch shape. My arch area feels hot during running. (The next 2nd & 3rd run, the side effect had been lessen).
3) My 3rd impression is the pain at both of me leg/feet. During my previous runs, I need to wear knee guard on my left knee because of an old fall history. I found out that maybe wearing the guard could have a bad side effect for me in the long run. There was always a lingering pain at my thigh after running 10km runs. To change for the better, I discard the guard for my runs.
The pleasant surprise is that there is no pain in my legs after my usual 3km & 5km runs. Brooks sure know how to make a running shoes. Their motto for Pure Project - Feel more with less does spot on.
4) The last note after running with Brooks is my running timing. I had shaved 2 mins for my 3km run & 4 mins for my 5 km run. This is the final result that any shoes should give to its user.
This will spice up my next run in April
