This Raya, I'm Seeing Stars
So it seems that I have a case of mild pneumonia just days before Raya Korban. When my doctor informed me that there may be a case of mild bronchitis with mild left basal infection, and the best for me is to warded into the hospital - I just blindly agreed.
That was the last solution for me after almost two weeks of the case of heavy cough. Each one felt like I have a grinder in the throat. Then it turns for the worse, it starts to attack both my ribs. It felt like I've been boxed by some MMA fighter in both ribs every time my throat threatening to itch. I almost seeing stars from all the pain.
I slept a lot when I'm sick. Like A Lot. Once it was just after I had my lunch at 12pm. Only after 6 hours that I managed to awaken myself up. It was usually most comfortable when I'm sleeping. Somehow the cough subsided when I'm asleep. When I'm awake it'll came like a torrent of waves.
And off to Lalaland when I'm asleep. It was always over the delta waves deep sleep, further plunging me into these sorts of dreams. Weird dreams. I've been time travelling, saving the world as superheros, and not to forget solving crimes as a detectives.
I was often disoriented waking up. Need to readjust myself until the reality starts kicking in.
I missed the kids a lot when I'm in he hospital. Only realized recently that Darwisyah face starts to resemble his older brother. Sitting side by side, the resemblance is clear. And Haziq becoming wittier as the days goes by.
For the past three weeks or so, I don't think that I felt like myself anymore. Often feeling drained, I've been neglecting both of them. Playtime and homework time at night with Haziq becoming sparse or none at all. Looking after Darwisyah during Dahlia was doing her job in the kitchen becoming an irritating chore. In some way I do felt I'm letting down the kids.
But in the course of getting better, there are also some perks. After both of my ribs took a beating from the cough, my right arm can't be lifted up. Every time I felt the pain, I can only imagine a fat Indonesian plantation owner with his smirk.
Dammit!
Since I can't lift my right arm, I can only turn to Dahlia's affection to help to feed me.
Makan suap isteri tu. Pergh, romatiknyeeeerrrr......
It is only after 6 years that we're married that this have to happen because of a 'serious' reason.
And of course most of the time I feigned the seriousness of the pain just to get some of her attention. Hehehe....
Even though I had been hospitalized for three days, and have medical leave extended for several days - what happening to me is just minuscule compared to what happening around the world this Raya Korban.
100 people died because of the giant crane incident in Makkah. Another 700 perished the stampede in Mina. Close at home one of my varsity colleague lost his wife after battling with leukemia for some time. May Allah Bless Them All.
I always try to seek the silver lining at the end of the day. Before being admitted, vials of blood samples had been taken. The result is the best in the last six years.
1) Glucose 4.7 mmol/L (3.9-6.1)
2) Uric acid 233 umol/L (202-434) - Last year this reading shot up unexpectedly
3) Total cholesterol 5.0 mmol/L
4) HDL cholesterol 2.28mmol/L (>1.42) - Usually my total cholesterol messed up because of my HDL level
All of these that happened is actually counter intuitive. I had eaten all of the antibiotics and the cough syrup but none produced the result that I expected. In fact it becoming worse.
I've eaten uncontrollably for the past month with no expense for the fast food and the sugar intake and I'm even at the heaviest with 67kg. But surprisingly the results that came is tremendously positive.
This reminds me of the advice my brother Iqbal relayed during the Raya Korban:
OK. Bye.
