The Sacrifice During Raya
Yesterday my brother & myself gone through the house & clean at the places our parents didn't do the cleaning yet. While Rosman was completely out of the picture since he didn't get better from the fever, there was some task given by out mother to Iqbal & myself.
Iqbal's task was to clean the gutter. It seems that he got himself an assistant in the process.
I took the liberty to clean the ceiling fan & the spider webs. Fortunately the assistant didn't come to 'help' when I climb the ladder to reach out to clean all those old dust.
Unfortunately, the assistant came when I was cleaning the leaves at the front of out home.
Iqbal & myself arrived in Perak on Tuesday. The drive from KL was smooth except for a small accident involving my back bumper & and idiotic asthmatic Honda City driver. Fortunately, it was a small bump with no effect to my car whatsoever.
During the 2 days that I had taken my early Raya holiday, amazingly there was a lot of phone calls involving work. Amazing because during my last week in the factory, there was next to none of these problems. Even our customer who is the refuse collector contractor had phoned in. Fortunately, the issues were solvable & I could gave the correct instruction to my technicians via some calls.
This makes me thinking about the people who are making their own sacrifices when the average Malaysians like you & me can have a great Raya.
While the usual men in the uniform like the police & the army always got the appreciation from the press, there are men & women that work behind the scene that always didn't get our notice of appreciation. The team of people that in standby for the utility, the PLUS, the immigration, the customs, and of course the refuse collector.
(Refuse collection during Raya is more than doubled. Most of the contractors didn't get their Raya year in & year out. All those foods after the rumah terbuka didn't just disappear magically, you know?)
A shout out to all the people that still working during Raya. Thank you all!!!!
