The Tale of Two Expos

Plus the Wesak Day, it was a long weekend holidays. Added with the 2 week long school holidays, the holiday excitement was there on last Thursday at the factory. One of my colleague even have her holiday in Krabi, Thailand.

It was then that I decided to bring my family to the Big Bad Wolf Book Expo at Danga City Mall. Actually I'm quite excited about this book expo. I heard from my brother that the same book expo in KL had a lot of books with mega discounts. There are not much book expos here in Johor. Making it worse was when you realize that most of the book expos in Johor also include Chinese books which obviously I don't read.

Semua gile pilih buku. Rambang mata sebab murah.

The expo itself was not disappointing. The book's price ranging from as low as only RM3 up to RM25. The books that myself & Lia picked only ranging from RM8 to RM20. Haziq picked some for himself too. All the while he didn't pick up a fuss, playing with the books.

Pilih buku sikit aje. Beli banyak-banyak pun bukan boleh baca semua sekaligus.

One of the disadvantage of buying things in sales is the urge to buy even though you may not be using it. Looking at the low prices of the books, I had to restraint myself. Even if the price is low, there may not be enough space back at home to put the books. We end up buying about 15 books, totaling RM136. In my own estimation, the original price of all the books should be about RM300 to RM400. So, there was a lot of savings. Yay!!!

Just exiting the book expo, my mom called & inform me of the MAPEX expo - a property expo at City Square. Since I need a rest after a lot of walking at the book expo, we decided to give it a look after Maghrib.

I didn't gave much hope at the property expo. And I was spot on the expectation of the expo. The properties that near to JB & Pasir Gudang - their prices are astronomical. The only affordable one are located at places like Kulaijaya & Kota Tinggi - places that very far from my workplace.

Budak kiut tersenyum aje.
Let me layout the house prices that I managed to gathered:
i) Taman Desa Tebrau, JB - min 600k
ii) Taman Gaya, JB - min 780k
iii) Lagenda Putra, Kulaijaya - min 330k
iv) Lakeside, Ulu Tiram - min 290k (both slightly affordable because of the location afar from JB)

Anyway, that confirms my suspicion all along that the Nusajaya already have some effect on the properties price in Johor. And I also can understand now why the property bug affecting my cousin & my mother. It is so addictive watching all the properties. If I didn't have a clear mind, maybe I feel that I can buy most of the properties as investment. Who knows, maybe after another 5 years I can reap the benefit of the booming Iskandar Region?

We only arrived home about 10pm. Haziq also already snoozing, apparently we already passed his naptime. The tale of 2 expos. One was exceeding the expectation and another one just f***ing disappointing.
