My Left Leg: Physiotherapy
As the arrangement that have been done, I went back to the Regency Hospital to have physiotherapy on my left leg today (18/4/2013). I'm not sure what is is the actual definition of physiotherapy actually. In my understanding, it is something that modern medicine do to support bodily injury. A quick look at the wiki produced below excerpt:
"Physical therapy (or physiotherapy), often abbreviated PT, is a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention carried out by physical therapists (known as physiotherapists in most countries) and physical therapist assistants (known as physical rehabilitation therapists or physiotherapy assistants in some countries)."
(Isn't it ironic that the more detail you explaining something, the more confused the recipient will become). From the long definition, below keywords is the only important things to understand what physiotherapy:
Physical therapy....health care profession...promotion of mobility...functional ability...carried out by physical therapist
In short, what I can expect during the visit is some therapist that will help me to analyze & overcome the pain through some examination.
My physiotherapist is a lovely Indian girl. In my opinion, she is quite an experience therapist because she could deduced what is main problem the minute she examined my left leg.
"Muscle kaki kiri awak lebih kecil dari kaki kanan awak. Sebab tu kaki kiri awak sakit."
"Eh betul ke?"
Is it true? I'm quite surprised when she put both of my leg side by side the muscle on my right leg is more defined than my left leg. How come I didn't notice it before?
To prove her point, she do another simple test.
"OK. Saya tahan kaki awak. Cuba awak tolak."
When she put her hand as a resistant, she asked me to push her hand with both my leg. First my right leg & after that my left leg.

Guess what? I definitely can push her hand with my right leg, but struggled with my left leg.
To build the muscle in my left leg, she teached me some exercise that I can do at home.
I think I can only do this at the gym |
This also can only be done at the gym. |
Calf strain exercise. Can be done at home. She even lend me the rubber band |
Need to buy the ankle weight to do this at home |
What I need to do now, is to do the simple exercises 3 times/day. And next week, we will meet again on Wednesday evening. For me I'm quite relieved that this visit have shed some light on my leg problem. Her explanation is logical. It is something that I can relate to.
Now... where do I put the rubber band?
