KL 10k Road Race: Ditching the Treadmill

Currently I'm preparing for this weekend's KL 10k Road Race. I'm just doing light running this week, running 3k on Wednesday & Thursday. I'm quite nervous when approaching any running event. If I'm exert myself too much, I might injure my leg. So this week I'm focusing to calm down & save my energy for this weekend.

During the last 2 weeks, I'm ran quite a lot of 5k & 3k for the preparation. More 5k than the usual 3k that I usually do. I also have been ditching the treadmill in favor to the road.

When I start running 7 years ago, it was not because I want to join any running event. It was just for my fitness. Usually it was a 2.2k routine 3 times per week at the gym. By the end of the run, I'm quite drenched in sweat - which I enjoyed before started lifting some weights.

Nowadays, the exhilarating feeling that I felt during running at the treadmill is just not quite the same. I'm not sure whether it is because I'm getting older or because I'm used to running longer distance than before. But because of that, I'm officially ditching the treadmill in favor to the road.

There is some advantages running on the treadmill compared to the road especially for the new runners:
1) Don't have the weather factor since it is indoor - can run even when raining.
2) Less risk of ankle & thigh injury since the impact will be absorb by the treadmill
3) No risk of attack from animals/man

The thing is after participating for the runs, I can't depend to train on the treadmill due to these reasons:
1) Treadmills tend to get spoil easily at the gym - too many users
2) Usually I need to queue to run at the treadmill at the gym - refer issue #1
3) Running at constant speed will wear you off easily - by running on the road, you can adapt the speed with the distance that you want to achieve.
4) Running indoors will bore you easily. Why do I want to look at my face for more that 45 mins when I can run outdoor with fresh air.

That is why I'm choosing outdoor. I just hope the dogs will not chase me anymore. huhuhu
